Description
Issey Miyake A-POC Sculptural Knit Top. Generally sculptural Issey Miyake and COMME des GARÇONS pieces are hard to find, so we’re very stoked to feature this beautiful top by Issey Miyake A-POC! A huge inspiration for a lot of Issey Miyake’s work has been the Japanese art of Origami, which is clear when looking at this garment. His 2010 “132.5” collection revolved around abstract folded shapes, and his famous clothing lines Pleats Please and HOMME PLISSE consist of pleated fabrics, using his own legendary technique. This top from his diffusion line A-POC (founded with Dai Fujiwara in 1999) has a three-dimensional folded look to it. To us, the structure looks a bit like a geometrical anatomic sketch of the human body. A very special garment by the late Issey Miyake </3

Brand information:
A-POC is short for “A Piece Of Cloth” and is a collaborative project between Issey Miyake and his longtime design associate and former creative director Dai Fujiwara. Together they added A-POC to the Issey Miyake repertoire in 1998, as an attempt to involve the consumer in the artistic process. A-POC is an interactive project that invites us to create our own art, from pre-determined effects, and practically cut and sew clothes from one piece of fabric. I was surprised and touched by this very innovative way of thinking, similar to something people would create today.
